Low Vitamin D Levels and Alzheimer’s

Low Vitamin D Levels and Alzheimer’sRecently, a correlation between low levels of vitamin D and Alzheimer’s has been discovered in older adults. Seniors with insufficient amounts of vitamin D in their bloodstream appear to be twice as susceptible to the development of dementia as seniors with healthy vitamin D levels. A study showed that any level below 20 ng/ml greatly multiplied patients’ risk of Alzheimer’s. This correlation is due to the belief that vitamin D may help clear plaque in the brain.
